It is believed that people currently enjoy the ease and affordability of travelling. While it is true that the accessibility of world travel can bring benefits, one should not disregard its shortcomings. 

On the one hand, it is undeniable that cheap and accessible travel is beneficial. For one, it creates many jobs for the local populace and plays a major role in the GDP of many countries. To elaborate, an influx in the number of tourists would result in a high demand for staff in hotels, airports and travel agencies which can be filled by locals, which reduces unemployment. Along with this, tourism is a major source of income for many developing countries in the world, namely Vietnam and Thailand. As tours become more affordable, foreigners are more likely to give these destinations a try, which boosts their income even further. 

On the other hand, the drawbacks of this development should not be overlooked. Firstly, as more people can now visit other countries, infectious diseases are able to spread at a more alarming rate. A great example of this would be COVID-19, which was a respiratory pandemic worsened by the effect of tourism and globalization. Furthermore, many “green” tours meant to promote conservation such as safaris or boat tours actually disturb the natural habitats and endanger the health of animals there. To accommodate these tours, infrastructure like roads and docking facilities have to be built, which will create obstructions and alterations in the local ecosystem. 

All in all, while it may be advantageous to some extent for tourism to become more universal, the negatives of this development must not be ignored.
