[Bar Graph] WT1 Incidents and Injuries Bar Graph
The bar graph compares the statistics of incidents and injuries per 100 million passenger miles traveled in 2002. Overall, most incidents and injuries occurred for demand response vehicles. Meanwhile, the figures were lowest for the commuter rail services.
In 2002, there were 225 incidents and 173 accidents for demand response transportation, which was exponentially higher than the other types. Although both bus services and light rail had 76 incidents in the same year, fewer injuries were recorded for light rail. In fact, the number of injuries for this type was only half of buses.
Heavy rail, in comparison, had 51 incidents, of which 35 people were injured. Finally, even though it wasn’t common for incidents to take place on commuter rail trains, 17 out of those 20 that occurred resulted in injured people.
