Overall, theme parks appeared to be the most popular choice among travelers while wildlife parks and zoos were the least favored. In addition, what is most striking when looking at the theme parks surveyed is the preeminence of Blackpool Pleasure Beach in terms of admission level. 

In 1999, visits to theme parks accounted for 38% of all travelers coming to British tourist destinations while museums and galleries secured the second position at just 1% lower. The remaining two types of destinations attracted far fewer visitors, with historic houses and monuments holding a slight advantage over wildlife parks and zoos, at 16% compared to 9% of tourists, respectively. 

Of all the theme parks surveyed, Blackpool Pleasure Beach amounted to almost half (47%) of all theme parks visits, while the remaining proportion of guests were fairly evenly divided among the remaining four locations. Alton Towers and Pleasureland in Southport occupied the middle tiers, accounting for 17% and 16% of visitors. In contrast, only in Chessington World of Adventures and Legoland in Windsor were admission levels the lowest, at just 10% each.

The proportion of tourists received at Alton Towers and Pleasureland in Southport were comparable, at 17% and 16%, respectively. By contrast, 10% of tourists came to Chessington World of Adventures and Legoland in Windsor.
