Initially, the figures for homeschooling among grades 1-2 and grades 5-6 witnessed a drop before bouncing back and increasing significantly. However, this rate was noticeably higher for grades 5-6, at 2.6% in 2004. (However, this rate was noticeably higher for grades 5-6 than grades 1-2, at 2.6% and 2.1%, respectively)

The given table compares the proportion of pupils receiving a home-based education over a 5-year period. Overall, the rate of students being educated at home rose for all levels. Of this, those at kindergarten age were more likely to be home schooled than any other groups

Those in kindergarten had the highest rate of home schooling in 1999 at 2.4%. This is followed by Grades 3-4 and Grades 7-8 at exactly 1.6%. In comparison, the figures for 1-2 and grades 5-6 were only 0.1% lower. 

From 2000 – 2004, kindergarten homeschooling rate continued to rise steadily by 0.1% each year until reaching a peak of 2.9% in 2004. A similar trend was observed for grades 3-4, but it only grew by 0.6%. Meanwhile, that of grades 7-8 remained stable for the first 3 years but then increased to 2.5%. In comparison, the home schooling rate for grades 5-6 saw the most significant increase of 1.1% over the 5-year-period despite dropping initially. Similarly, statistics for grades 1-2 followed suit, but its changes were not as drastic as it only rose by 0.7% in the same timeframe.
